The Grumpy Goat Tavern 50th Street

The wait time was 20 minutes per person, even for a sandwich. There were flies everywhere, and there was an unpleasant odor that really diminished the dining experience. There are plenty of other options in Des Moines. Food rating: 1/5.

The environment was unclean and had an unpleasant odor. The food lacked flavor and was tough, giving the impression that it had been sitting out since the previous day and simply reheated. The server was neither friendly nor attentive. This is not a business I will support again. I recommend voting with your wallet and choosing to dine elsewhere until a better restaurant takes its place.

Everything is overpriced. The restaurant was generally dirty. Our server, Casey, was not good at all. While the food was decent, the drinks were poor. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Needs new ownership. Everyone knows about the existing owner but beyond that the prices are insane. $17.50 for a small basket of cheese curds?! $36 for that and 2 glasses of house wine?On the flip side, Bradley’s is doing well given their normal prices!

Came in around lunchtime, not busy at all, only one hostess named Casey, and we had to wait about 15-25 min before ordering. He kept on focused on one table and forgetting he had other tables that were waiting to order. Once the food was ready, he messed up most of our orders, and some of the food was warm. Bad service and food for a first visit would not be recommended if you plan on waiting for a while.
