The night before it, we got an email saying the event had been moved from the event center to the restaurant. Someone apparently double-booked.With all the raffle and bid items on tables, it was a bit crowded. When the meal was put on the catering table, it was mass confusion. The line stretched around and back and forth, so it was nearly impossible to determine the end of the line. When we walked by it, I heard a server ask someone if they wanted ribs or chicken. Great, we could try one of each, I thought. When we finally got to the serving line, only ribs remained. They appeared to have been boiling (not smoked or baked) for hours. Typically fall off the bone ribs are pretty good, but the meat had no flavor, and barely any texture. The mashed potatoes were next to awful. Green beans were also overcooked. No desert, which is probably ok, since my expectations were pretty low by that point, anyhow.Would I go back to try a non-event meal? Probably not.
Went here for a murder mystery dinner. The event itself was fun but the venue not great. For $50 we got messy bathrooms, bone flakes in our rib meat, a salt and pepper shaker full of water, slow bartending lines and slow service in general.
We went for simple, tasty food served by wait staff at a table. I was exactly that. Simple and tasty. Super nice staff all around. And it was very reasonably priced especially right now. Yay!
Good isn't what it used to be. Good bartenders and beer tho.great service but food has changed and kinda bummed me out the ribs are gone.
If I could leave zero stars, I would. Terrible experience. We went for dinner and I ordered the CFS dinner. The baked potato was over baked and dry, whatever, that was ok. The gravy on the CFS was supposed to be white gravy but had been sitting on the steam table so long it was brown and tasted burnt. There was no bread offered and when I asked, I was told they were out of dinner rolls. I asked for toast and was told no. I tried to eat it, but after a few bites, I couldn't stomach it. I told the server what was wrong and why. She apologized and asked me if I wanted something else. Of course I declined. She said she would talk to the mgr and took my plate, still full of food, and disappeared. She came back, with no plate, and the bill, and said there's nothing they can do. Now mind you, the husband is barely into his meal at this point. I said I understood and asked for my plate. I figured even if I don't like it, if I have to pay for it, I can at least see if one of the teens at home want it or give to the neighbors dog, after all, I am paying for it! They refused to bring me back the plate. The mgr refused to come out and talk to us and sent her barely legal bartender out to chastise us and act like we had no business being there in the first place. He told me he could go dig my food out of trash and asked if I would like that! I have never been so disgusted or disrespected in my life. I am not one to leave reviews for things like this but I think that if this is how they treat their customers then people should know. Why? I didn't ask for anything. I didn't expect anything. I just wanted them to know that the food was not satisfactory. By this point, he was really mad I guess because he was shaking and looked like he wanted to punch me. He proceeded to snatch the receipt off the table and yelled at us that he would just pay for it himself. Well, yep, you sure can now. We tipped the server 20 bucks and left. I am still not clear on what happened to us tonight at Speedway. We have been there several times and always enjoyed our meal, until tonight. We won't be back.
