The place is nice different than when I was there years prior. I preferred the former interior design. It is dark enough that it's hard to read the menu. Generally I found all the drinks especially overpriced. Main dishes are priced OK considering none of them contain any meat or dairy. I was compelled to come here because I needed a restaurant with good vegan and gluten free options to accommodate a friend's dietary needs; otherwise I'd say there are many, many much better restaurants in LA.

I found the ambience (esp the outdoor patio area) absolutely entrancing. The service was great, the food was also very good. My one suggestion is that some spicy condiments be offered. As a Mexican food lover, I found the spice level to be very safe-n-sane. Otherwise amazing.

Although I had left a message asking for help with something special to celebrate my wife's birthday, this was not taken into account... fortunately the restaurant staff improvised with a birthday dessert

My husband and I had an AMAZING time! Our server was fantastic and on the ball. The only thing that stood out as odd was the bartenders. We weren't sure if the bar was still open as they seemed to huddle together and avoid contact. Once what seemed to be the bar lead or manager popped into the bar area, we were then attended to. She was very polite and one of the other bartenders finally followed. That's really my only note for this place. The bartenders were in avoidance mode, with side eye glances and lacked the welcome to our establishment vibe. It's almost as though they were scared of the guests and over them at the same time. Not welcoming at all. I can't imagine they get tipped well with the attitude. This wasn't the first time i've seen this here. Other than that, we LOVED this place! We'll be back, but we'll definitely avoid the bar.

Gracias Madre is one of the top high-end places for vegans and we've been there many times over the years. Food, service, and atmosphere are always outstanding and there are often new things on the menu. Highly recommended.
