In a rush, I followed the staff's recommendation and ordered the Dry Hor Fun for $4.50. The staff was friendly and the portion was generous. The taste was very similar to the nearby vegetarian eatery, Hwa Jin Family Vegetarian Restaurant, which offers a similar dish for only $4. My expectation of Dry Hor Fun was different, as I was surprised that it was mainly noodles with minimal sauce. I may need to adjust my perception of this dish.
The stir-fried vegetables and "chicken" and "pork" chunks were absolutely wonderful, priced at $6. The dry hor fun was delicious but a bit too oily for my taste. The sweet and sour "fish" dish was unexpectedly deep-fried and consisted mainly of flour, sauce, and thinly sliced king oyster mushrooms. I would recommend trying their signature hor fun stir-fried vegetables instead. The restaurant also offers a unique ginger-spiced savory sauce that adds to the delicious flavors of their dishes.
I visited this stall to try their renowned Hor Fun after reading positive reviews, and I was not disappointed. I sampled both the dry and wet versions, and found that I preferred the wet one. The wet version had a smoky flavor infused into the gravy, creating a perfect combination. While many zi char chefs can achieve wok hei in the dry version, infusing it into the hor fun gravy takes it to another level. During my last visit on a weekday afternoon, I noticed that many other patrons at the coffeeshop also ordered the hor fun, indicating its popularity among local residents. This dish comes with eggs by default, so be sure to request to omit them if you do not consume them. Overall, the dishes here are great due to the chef's strong zi char skills.
