Called here on way home from Lynton and lynmoth we tried loads of pubs for something to eat and was going to give up as all were closed... but came across this lovely pub...what a name for a pub !! The Rest and be Thankfull The lad behind the bar was lovely and very freindly and the young lady who served our food was great allthough we found the lady with the short hair nothing less than downright rude we all had lovely meals and was glad we called here it was very clean we had 2 x Gammon Eggs a burger meal and a plaice meal all were excellent and presented lovel
I recently stayed at this hotel for a few nights, as I had stayed there the previous year as well. The staff was friendly, the room was well-equipped, and there was a good selection of tea/coffee and toiletries. The view of Dunkery Hill from the window was lovely. I dined in the pub one evening when they were serving a carvery, which was delicious with generous portions. The dessert menu was difficult to choose from, but I opted for the profiteroles which were a favorite of mine and were served in a good portion. The hotel also provided catering for an event at the village hall across the street on another night. Breakfast was substantial with a good variety of options (pre-orders were taken the night before). For future guests, a few tips to keep in mind: the stairs to the rooms are a bit steep, so those with mobility issues may find it challenging. Also, noise from adjacent rooms can be heard as is common in hotels, so bringing earplugs could be helpful for light sleepers. If I have the opportunity to attend the same event in the future, I would definitely consider staying here again. Overall, a positive experience.
We went for Sunday lunch today and opted for the Carvery, which was excellent. The roasted meats were delicious and there was a wide variety of vegetable side dishes available. The condiments were plentiful as well. Despite being full, I couldn't resist trying the coffee and brandy mousse for dessert.
The food at this restaurant was fantastic! We ordered three portions of the pork and apple cider pie and one portion of the butternut, chickpea, and spinach curry. All dishes were packed with flavor. For dessert, we had a sticky toffee pudding and a banoffee pie, which were a bit pricey but definitely worth it.
