We walked past Pane E Fromaggio on our way to look at the lunch menu posted on another restaurant further up the block. When that menu proved disappointing we were both immediately drawn back to the very European little tile tables and cafe chairs set in Pane E Fromaggio's open front. The most pleasant surprises though were still to come, the Italian sandwiches were wonderfully fresh, flavourful and not too overwhelmingly big. This left us room to share a piece of the wonderfully lemony brulee tart. (Next time I'm having a whole piece of my own) My dining companion loved his coffee and I liked the fact that I could pour myself a glass of free lemon infused water. And the whole meal was extremely well priced leaving us feeling like we'd been warmed by the sun on a plaza overlooking the Adriatic rather than a sidewalk on 10th Avenue. Pane E Fromaggio will definitely become part of my journey to UBC in the future.
Tasty Italian sandwiches.... although the waffles at a nearby table looked terrific. Great cappuccino.
We went in search of a shop for unpasteurised cheese and found this gem of a deli. They were very friendly and allergy aware and made us bespoke sandwiches for lunch and for our flight home. Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was friendly and courteous. We felt unrushed to choose from the many delights in the shop.We returned twice more in the fortnight we were there and were never disappointed.
Love the atmosphere. Love the baking. Love the sandwiches. Love the groceries they have available but most importantly love the coffee.
