It looked closed from the outside but Sushiya was open, with dim lighting, and not busy on a Friday night. So we were apprehensive to eat there but no worries -- the food is fresh, quickly served and reasonably priced (compared to Victoria or Revelstoke). The udon soups were a good size, with tasty broth good portions of meat and plump noodles. The sashimi was sooo good and the salad dressing on the green salad was not the typical mayo-based stuff but a refreshing clear version. Highly recommend.
It was a tad expensive for my Vancouver brain, where we are saturated in sushi restaurants. But this was so delicious that it was worth every penny. They were very kind about my seafood allergy and I didn't have any reaction. I rarely get to go out for sushi because of this allergy so it's amazing when a restaurant really respects that and tries to help.It was delicious, and a good portion. The flavours were great.
Take out . Excellent sushi was fresh and well priced. Enjoyed everything . A really good mash potato sushi which was pretty neat.
I had a few sushi and a few lunch boxes. Very good quality of fish and preparation. Good noodles too. I also enjoyed tempura but it seems that there is a popular trend in among the sushi places to offer less traditional sauce for the tempura. I am not a fan of that sauce( it has cinnamon) if you are looking for a classic tempura ask for a traditional sauce. Service is quick and very good.
After walking for an hour from our home, my wife suggested sushi for lunch. We found a sushi restaurant that I really liked. As soon as you walk in, you notice the cozy atmosphere with warm dark colors, low lighting, and Jazz music playing in the background. It feels like you're in a classy restaurant in a big city, rather than West Kelowna. An employee confirmed that they always play Jazz in the restaurant. Despite it being midday, it felt like the perfect setting for a romantic evening out. I believe this place is better than many sushi restaurants in Vancouver. I had a great lunch here while enjoying the Jazz music. If you're a fan of both Jazz and sushi, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant.
