They have great deals during the happy hour and we were very pleased with everything. The menu is varied and the sushi options are too many to choose from in just one visit. Food was good service was good we'll be back!
This place has the most variety of sushi rolls that I have ever seen and I have favorite sushi restaurants in NYC, in FL and in about 7 business destinations. The crab, tuna, salmon, shrimp, scallops, mackerel all the staples are AWESOME. They have halibut, eel, squid and octopus plus salmon eggs, smelt eggs and flying fish eggs. Veggies range from asparagus to bell peppers to cucumber to green onions to zucchini and lots in between. The eel sauce and ponzu sauce are great, too. Beginners can start tentatively but the more times that you go, the more adventuresome you will become! It's worth many trips. They even have sushi rolls with chicken or steak in them. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!
My aunt and I had lunch at the Happy Sumo yesterday. My dad and uncle had lunch there the day before and recommended it to me, so I thought it was going to be good. I ordered the seafood tempura(15$ , my aunt ordered the samurai steak(19$ . Both did have good flavor, but were overpriced. No miso soup or salad was offered. I got a small ice cream scoop sized serving of rice on my plate, so I ordered more rice. Extra bowl of rice 3 dollars! My dad had ordered the same thing the day before, but he received rice in a bowl and salad. Two people for lunch cost over 50 dollars. You can get the SAME FOOD for 20 bucks at Tokyo Teriyaki. If you want high end japanese food you should check out Domo in downtown. The Happy Sumo is not a real japanese restaurant. Written by a real japanese male.
