The chicken was finely shredded, unlike other restaurants that serve larger pieces. The broth tasted watered down and lacked flavor. When I requested a cup of hot water, I was surprised to be charged $1 for it – that felt unreasonable. Overall, I felt like I was getting ripped off. The restaurant itself is very small, with an occupancy of about 40. I would suggest trying a different restaurant instead. I do not recommend this place at all.
I couldn't have found a better spot for my ideal rainy day! The portion sizes are massive! I ordered the large Pho Dac Biet, and it was absolutely delicious! The meats were cooked perfectly, providing a wonderful texture that blended beautifully with the fresh sprouts and other ingredients for an amazing combination of flavors. The spring rolls were so beautifully presented that I almost felt guilty eating them, but they were just too good to resist. The peanut sauce is so good that you'll want to finish every last one. No Vietnamese meal is complete without trying the Vietnamese iced coffee known as Cafe Sua Da. If you're sensitive to carbs, you might know that they can make you feel a bit sluggish after a meal; that's why the Vietnamese have crafted the perfect drink for after a meal, and let me tell you, it works wonders! The service was incredibly friendly, and I will definitely be back since I love Vietnamese food. They truly gave me my dream lunch for a rainy day!
WTF? I ordered takeout the special pho with ox tail $18 freaking dollars! and when I poured the soup container with the oxtail, this little piece of **** oxtail was at the bottom! It tasted old and chewy. Also the pho broth had this burned MSG taste to it... what a ripoff! Maybe I should show them how to make real pho... Never again
I experienced food poisoning after dining here, and they also charge for containers if you want to take your leftovers home. Make sure to double-check your bill.
Went for lunch on a Sunday. This place serves a fairly large menu of staple food and exotic snacks with average prices. Beers are only $2.50 while iced coffee is $4.75. A couple young people in the wait staff was very professional and helpful. He suggested 2 most popular dishes, Cha Ca Hanoi and Canh Bun Rieu Cua. Cha ca Hanoi was authentic with bites of catfish marinaded in tumeric and fried, served on a hot plate, about $14. It was very close to the traditional dish served in the famous place, Cha Ca La Vong, in Hanoi, but without frying the fish in a pot of pork fat over a hot charcoal stove at the table, which can be smoky and smelly. Note that this Northern dish is not served with the fishy herb (la vap), but with other aromatic Northern herbs. Can Bun Rieu Cua was sumptuous with pork shank, snails, blood curls, tofu ect, but the broth is pork bones typical of Southern and Chinese tastes, not made with crab broth as original Northern dish. It's still a good deal $14. This place has a small stage for karaoke nights which can be annoying with bad home-made singers. A dozen old men were out front drinking, smoking talking loudly. Guests inside were also talking loudly. It's a good place for quick bites of above-average Vietnamese food. It's not a good place for quiet, upscale dinners with polite guests.
