Cute little place i ordered the tigers prawns which sadly wasn’t as good as i thought it was going to be. the sourdough bread was barely warm, flavour was kind of mediocre and the price was a little much for a starter dish. :
My sister had us booked in for a meal. That was to coincidence with a Liverpool Premiership match. Since October 2020 I have been doing really well on a low carb keto lifestyle. Sure enough, I intended to have some carb rich lovely prints of Guinness but I was looking for decent quality real food. Fish chowder was delicious to start. Beautifully creamy with generous chunks of various fish, including some lovely smoked fish. I was happy to step out of my low carb lifestyle with a lovely brown soda bread slice with genuine Irish butter. My main was pork ribs with fries. The fries looked good and my mother enjoyed a few of them but I had none. I also avoid seed oils whenever I can. However, plenty of ribs to fill me up. Good grief, two racks of ribs. Falling off the bone. Some bbq sauce but not at all overdone, as I like it. Meaty, tender and filling. I really didn't need the fries, which I don't want but I understand to be great quality. Bo surprise, I generally don't do desserts and was genuinely full of pork ribs anyway. My mother and sister had an Eton mess which looked good. The tempting chocolate mousse was, unsurprisingly, sold out. Super quality food, generous portions. Gents amenities hotel standard, as you would expect. This is a hotel that is also a great place for food, a pint, a chat, watching the match or whatever.
All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this great pub. Good food, nice portions decently priced. Served efficiently and with warm smiles by the young staff. A lovely pint of Murphy's rounded off our lunchtime meal. Would definitely recommend and will return.
The food was great! The staff were very prompt and friendly. The Guinness was lovely. They allow dogs inside the bar which was very much appreciated. We had our Golden Retriever with us and he loved the Chicken Goujons! They offered our dog a water bowl also. The music in the bar was nice although it would've been nice to have irish folk music rather than Westlife on a loop (personal preference). The staff were very accommodating and seemed interested in creating a welcoming atmosphere. We will be back!
