Shanghai Gourmet - Westport

We have been coming to this restaurant for years, but after tonight, we will not be returning. The dumpling dough was tough and undercooked, and surprisingly, it was the best dish we ordered. The eggplant with pork was overcooked to a mushy consistency, lacking any garlic sauce. The cured chicken and shrimp were also overcooked, and the vegetables were cut into large, unappealing slices.

This is the best Chinese food I have ever had! I have been dining at this hidden gem since 2004 and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The vegetables are fresh and deliciously prepared; the cooking style is authentic Szechuan and Hunan, straight from their respective provinces in China. It's so amazing! Unfortunately, their dining room is still closed due to COVID, which I miss, but safety comes first.

This restaurant is a popular gathering spot in China, offering fast service and generous portions at affordable prices. Their fried pork is the best in town.

Our go-to Chinese restaurant for many years. Unfortunately, the quality has slipped badly. Cold fried dumplings. The Thai curry dish we ordered had large chunks of barely cooked green pepper, radish and red onion and little curry sauce. Another dish had eggplant stewed to a pulp.
