Feedback gevenA few times each year, I order steamed blue crabs for takeout from this restaurant. Generally, the quality of the crabs is good, and unlike John's Seafood in Paulsboro, there’s no extra charge for cooking. However, I was disappointed with the price and value during my most recent visit. I was charged $72 for a dozen crabs, which comes to $6 each, marking the highest price I've ever paid here. Additionally, the crabs were no larger than those I’ve purchased in the past for $4 or $5. To top it all off, I had a negative experience with Jody, a long-time employee who always seems sullen and unfriendly.
The situation at this restaurant keeps getting worse. They've recently announced they are reopening for dine-in service, but their website lacks information about their limited hours. In fact, they’re only open for dine-in from Thursday to Saturday, and on Thursday and Friday, they close at 6:00 PM. Yes, you read that right—6:00 PM! Who serves dinner at such an early hour? It seems they lack an understanding of customer needs, which is quite disappointing. Perhaps they’re having difficulties finding staff to provide good service after the pandemic. I would suggest looking for dining options elsewhere; this place seems beyond help.
The crabs at this restaurant are amazing—full of meat and absolutely worth the price. I also like their scallops, but I prefer to prepare those on my own. Trust me when I say that the crabs are a fantastic value. I always buy them live, and after visiting Maryland 40 times just for the crabs, I can confidently say this place comes very close to the authentic experience.
I 've have written that I always loved Grabbe 's. I said I wouldn 't write every time we ate or got takeout from them but I would update you when I have something I 'm excited about, whether blown away or let down. In this case, I write because my son I got sick on our last takeout order of Garlic Crabs Grabbe 's Crab Soup. Before the holidays) So sad. Been LOYAL customers for over 20+ years. Sad review that I didn 't want to write but again, I 'm HONEST about my experiences. My hubby literally contacted them via phone text after I couldn 't eat 2 crabs out of the 1 1/2 dozen order) bc of the nausea hit, got sick and then causing me to lay down sleep for 2 hours. Seriously, that 's how my body to react Hubby texted Jody directly as she takes our order all the time and asked if they Changed their recipes/ingredients BC of our relationship with her and the owner as to be regulars. She didn 't answer her phone or text back until the following day with a business like response, not a personal concern. It was not worded as something she would write, with thh e exception of onne statement wherein she Re e ferried to herself as simply the serving wench that 's her humor to lighTen the rest of what she was obviously told to write). This was extremely upsetting to both my hubby and myself as not only LOYAL customers, but on personal levels over all these years. Anyway, crabs weren 't bad bc it was bad seafood, it was the Garlic Crabs seasoning. The garlIc wasn 't fresh. It had a funky smell taste which caused all this. The soup, was definitely completely different. Both quarts were not the Grabbe 's Crab Soup we have been eating for years. No crab flavor, no vegetables, it was red tomato tasting with chunks of red skin potatoes and tasted like pure salt. Again, So sad and disappointed to even write this, especially bc all we expected AL or Jody to do is call us, say bring it back we 'll gladly remake it, I 'm so sorry guys Never happened and never heard from them again. :
Food was wonderful fish was fresh and cooked perfectly best coleslaw ever I highly recommend service was fast and pleasant
