We decided to dine at this restaurant and ordered a bottle of rosé wine, a Pinot Grigio blush priced at £24. The quality was similar to a £6 bottle from a supermarket. Our garlic bread with cheese starter was delicious. For mains, we had a fish pie for £17.50 and a gammon steak for £14. The fish pie was tasty but lacked pieces of fish, with only 3 found - 1 piece of haddock, 1 piece of salmon, and 1 prawn. The gammon steak was disappointing, as it was more like a thin, salty, burnt sandwich steak. The eggs were also overcooked.
Came here last year it was great but this visit was very disappointing. Everything was extremely dry, Yorkshire puddings were very over cooked, stuffing was dry tasteless. Chocolate brownie bland. Staff are very friendly. Toilets are awful.
Was very warmly welcomed instantly by Vicky, the Roast dinner was fabulous and just what was needed for on a Sunday afternoon!
The pub is in a very pretty location which can be fully appreciated in good weather. The food was good but the service erratic probably because there was only one person serving in the bar and restaurant area. This is a great shame because the poor girl was doing her best. One of our orders was served on a wooden board when a plate would have preferable. We were going to ask for a plate but felt sorry for the waitress so didn't. Unlike my friends I have been there in the past and have been happy with the food and service so this was disappointing.
