One of the best Thai restaurants in North America is repaired on your food order for your next trip to Whistler. Read nothing before... until 2022, your life has changed a corner. Go with it, hug the change and eat Thai food at the Riverside Campground. Mostly out.
Okay, let me just say that I can be used to “big city” Vancouver restaurants with a quirky style and hipster vibe, but this café is missing in pretty much everything, especially if it is so close to the world-famous resort of Whistler. I'm gonna... that breakfast was good, but a business is much more. How about a nice “Hello” when a customer comes in? Or even a **** from someone? No, just an empty star behind the counter. It felt like fast food, although even McDonalds did not expect a tip before actually getting your meal. And you can get a refill of coffee at McD’s, no chance to see any servers here. The place is tiny, the decor has a small city feel and oh the great painting on the wall.. It's all good, but if you want more than your locals, make Riverside a pleasant place to sit down and feel welcome. The only large part was the fresh, non-frozen potatoes.
We ordered a club sandwich with fries. The ingredients were very fresh and nicely toasted. I enjoyed our meal. They did not have beer on tap, so we settled for 2 cans of beer which were decent.
The food at this restaurant is exceptional. I have never had a bad meal in the 20 or 30 times I have visited throughout the year, which speaks volumes. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is peaceful, away from the chaos of the village. The panfried potatoes are possibly the best I have ever had, and they are just one of the delicious sides offered. This restaurant is a must-visit, but be warned - if there are no other seats available, I may just join you at your table and share your meal. You won't regret dining here. Just do it.
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch on the Riverside Café's patio on May 5th. The service was great and the food was delicious. I ordered a toasted tuna sandwich and my husband had their turkey club. We both enjoyed a bowl of their roasted red pepper and coconut soup, which was very tasty. The sandwiches were fresh and filling. Our total bill came to $23. The only downside was that the patio overlooked the parking lot, but if you looked past that, you could see the snow-capped mountain peaks and lush forest, making for a beautiful view. On the other side of the parking lot, there was a river and walkway for those who wanted to take a stroll. We would definitely return to this restaurant.
