The service went down hill over there last year of business . Most time you went the staff were on the phone or the food was off. It was not surprise to see that it went out of business.
We spent today at Australia Zoo, on our way home we fancied a cup of tea. We decided to stop at Peachester at the Good Old Days Shoppe. It looked quaint from the outside. On the way in, we passed a lady on the phone who we initially thought to be a customer. Once inside we waited, and waited, and waited and waited.......all the while we could hear the lady on the phone...turns out she was on the phone talking about ordering, guess she was the owner. Not once did she acknowledge our presence. We walked out to our car and still nothing from this lady, not even an apology nor an explanation that she was too busy or pre-disposed to acknowledge is let alone take an order! Terrible terrible terrible!
I usually avoid establishments that call themselves a "shoppe". Coffee was drinkable though a little pricey.Friends carrot cake came drizzled with chocolate sauce , I think he is still in shock over that . A nice spot for a break. Gardens could do with a spruce up and perhaps more shade in summer. I wouldn't highly recommend. Next trip through Peachester we will probably bring a thermos and a picnic from home and enjoy it at the shady cool Stanley River Park ( and paddling hole) just down the road.
I read a review about this cafe months ago and had been wanting to visit. As luck would have it I visited the Glasshouse Mountains this weekend. It's an eclectic mix of rooms, each with memorabilia for sale. Interesting items; war helmets, China tea cups, glassware, guns, music etc. All a bit pricey but I'm not a collector or an expert but it was a great way to spend time while waiting for our food. The meals are home-style cafe and decent portions. For 3 of us it was $41 including drinks so very well priced for the size of the meals. Lovely young lady served us - warm, friendly smiles which made this a pleasant visit.
