Came here for trail rides had reservations at 1pm, due to change of plans we tried to come earlier 8:30am. as I was standing overlooking the sequence of horses 4 ladies before me had res. for 10am, Ana put them on the 9am Ana made an exception for them to ride earlier. when I approached her to let her know plans changed for us, and if we were able to do the 10am. She stated it was full? How when the 4 ladies were for 10am and made an exception for them to be on the 9am? but not for myself and husband. Her exuses were so lame. per policy we cant change reservations? But she did on the spot. We already chose the horses for you? Waivers are already signed so everyone will showup? Are you serious? Her customer service was so poor, and inaccurate when all of this was done right in front of me and almost as if i didnt understand what she was talking about. So what I wanted to be a beautiful activity for my day turned out to be a poor one due to her customer service demeanor. Terrible.
Such kind and prepared staff members with the sweetest horses to ride. A definite highlight of our trip to Whitefish! We loved everyone we met that day.
I just stayed at the Bar W Ranch from July 10 to the 16. There aren’t enough words to describe what an incredible place this is. This was the best experience of my entire life. I stayed in glamping tent 1 and slept like a baby every night. I really felt like I was living in the pioneer days, absolutely love how the tents are set up. Waking up every morning, as soon as you open up the tent and seeing the horses grazing in the pasture surrounded by those trees is a sight I will never forget. I absolutely loved sitting on the porch in the morning with my morning coffee, then going over to bond with the horses, then the adorable friendly goats and pigs. That’s a morning routine I’ll never forget. The staff in charge of scheduling the activities Grace and Kelsey did a phenomenal job, they are so skilled at what they do. The trail rides were the best horseback rides I’ve ever done. Make sure you sign up for the swisher lake ride, you drive to this small town called Eureka and from there ride to the Canadian border, the views of the mountains, the forests are spectacular, you really feel like you’re in a true western movie. The most beautiful highlight was stopping for lunch at Lake Koocanusa, a jaw dropping view of the prettiest lake. Joe are trail guide was super kind and made our trip really enjoyable, I really admired how passionate he is in his job. Thank you so much to Kiera, Chloe, Lilly, Austin, Natalie for being such dedicated and genuinely kind hearted wranglers. Participating in the week activities such a roping, axe throwing, white water rafting was super fun. You don’t wanna miss the rodeo either, that was so much fun to watch! I made a lot of really special friends this week and by the end of the week of bonding with each other and sharing these experiences together, we left as family, which is an amazing feeling and it’s all thanks to Bill and Barbara, the owners of this magical place. You guys are truly wonderful people and the kitchen staff work so hard and making the meals, every meal was absolutely amazing. Even though the ranch activities were really fun, the biggest highlight for me was helping out the wranglers after my trail rides with the chores, I absolutely loved brushing the horses, feeding them, releasing them back in the pasture, thank you Austin and Lilly for letting me help out. It was the biggest highlight for me because not only did I wanna help you guys out, I wanted to experience what it’s like working on a ranch, and it’s the happiest job in the world. I really appreciate the hard work you guys do on a daily basis. Lastly thank you to Molly for teaching me how to unsaddle a horse. I truly admire how patient you are, you have a heart of pure gold. So if you are looking for a true authentic dude ranch vacation, I give the Bar W Guest ranch my highest recommendation. It’s an experience I’ll always treasure with my whole heart forever :
We experienced only the Dude Ranch (horseback riding) services for Bar W, and it was a mediocre experience at best. One thing we enjoy about any tour is the enthusiasm of the guides to share tidbits about the region we 're in, to perhaps make silly jokes and to at least seem to enjoy what they 're doing. It 's our vacation!! The three guides at Bar W barely cracked a smile, did not attempt to engage guests in any way before, during or after the ride. The scenery was boring: power lines to saw-cut forest (with no views). Even the few wild animals we encountered (deer) were not shared with the group. We plodded along in silence for two hours, the only views being the rump in front of you and the dust from its hooves. Despite the fact that we filled out our release paperwork early, the guides did not plan our ride so that we could be together. Instead they split up our family group so we could not even talk to each other. Had my daughter been younger and a less experienced rider, that would have concerned me for her safety. Overall it was a waste of 1/2 day of our Glacier vacation.
