After examining my friends ID there was in fact a hologram over the state capital building on the ID. When trying to explain this to the manager she refused to listen to us and kept denying us service because she didn 't feel comfortable without even listening to our reasoning or even looking at the ID again. After this, she was talking to other bartenders and pointing at us and talking to them. Manager and bartenders are very rude and don 't want to listen to what you have to say or admit they are wrong. So if you are visiting this brewery from out of state DO NOT go here.
This place is great. The building, with garage doors that open to the grounds and fresh air are really neat. It's like a compund, with the main building, a huge outdoor tent, a sports-bar-like building, and food area. It's a good thing too, because usually when we are there the place is packed. So it's definitely a party atmosphere. The beers are great! I'm especially fond of their IPAs, including the 9lb Hammer and Galactic Hammer. They always have something new on tap, and some of my favorites have been their seasonals, like harvest and Octoberfest beers in the fall, shandies in the summer, etc... The service is fast and friendly, although you may need to wait in line at the service bar if they are busy. The only criticism I have is the food, which has been hit and miss for us. The menu is very limited, featuring mostly fried foods and burgers. The chipotle burger is good when it's cooked right, but I think it is too expensive for what you get. There are breweries in the area that have much better food, but not many that have beer this good, so you may have to decide what is more important.
Amazing family owned and run business. Plenty of seating areas, variety of live music, kid and pet friendly. The beer selection never ends and the slushees are fun and refreshing. Pick up your seasonal plants and flowers while you're there. Lots of fun adult yard games available too.
Some friends from Maryland invited us to Slate Farm and we had a great time. The place is pretty big, with lots of seating and different areas. We sat in the one little shed/barn that had a few tables and tv's. This is an amazing locale for cool summer nights. The main tent/pavilion outside the bar had a live band playing and that set a nice mood. I'm not much of a beer drinker but the drinks I had were quite good. I had their strawberry margarita slushie which was perfect. I also had their non-alcoholic butter-beer and that was quite good. I know some breweries do serve normal alcoholic beverages but Slate Farm only serves their lines of beer and alcohol FYI. My only complaint would be that the food probably took around an hour to get to us. It was pretty good and I was happy with it but alas that wait was pretty brutal. The whole facility was packed and they have a pretty small kitchen/trailer that makes the food for the whole place so meals don't get pumped out super quick. I'd be interested to see if they make a permanent addition for food services some day. Overall I liked my experience and I will definitely come back in the future.
Worst food truck experience ever!!! Waited over 45 minutes to get lied to about why the order was NEVER delivered!!
