Cafe Balzam - Whitehorse

I was aprehensive after reading other peoples' negative reviews, but our experience was totally opposite. We had great service. The waitresses were very attentive. Our food came out at the same time, and quicker than we'd anticipated. Wow, the elk crepe and mushroom crepe were amazing! The variety flavours, use of local produce, and overall presentation was impressive. We ordered 4 savoury crepes and two sweet crepes. We were very impressed with the quality of the food. If we were staying longer, we would eat there again for sure!

This is second time for us in this restaurant. We were here sometime in the winter/spring. The food was good and service was okay.Despite the high prices, we decided to give it another try last Saturday (July 15th).We asked waitress to give us couple of more minutes to look at the menu, and that turned into a 12 minutes wait. She did seem busy for 3-4 minutes but for the rest of the 7-8 minutes she wouldn't even look at us. Finally, she decided to come and take our order. That's why 2 star rating for service.Crepes was lukewarm, and it was presented differently than the last time when we were here. Not as tasty either. The rest of the food was fine. That's why 3 star rating for food.For those high prices, one would expect better service and better food. That's why 2 star rating for value. We were hoping to have a nice place to go for dinner on a regular basis, but after this experience, we doubt that we will go again.We might give it another try in few months and see if any improvements.

Amazing food - and great so see the emphasis on local, sustainable food. Friendly, helpful servers. Very slow - and food arrived at different times for different people - maybe they haven't got kitchen timing figured out - eat here when you're not in a hurry!

We've been sitting at our table for half an hour and still don't have our drinks let alone our food. I keep seeing the waitress going to text on her phone behind the counter. We reminded her of our drinks and she just walked right by us.Horrible service!

Great locally raised food wrapped in crepes! Also the only place in Whitehorse where we can get such local food. Big up for the farmers!
