At least some of the catastrophe has been observed by a local Tourisim officer who conducts a survey on your skiing visit. The food is good, but in the last two years something has gone down, this year's meal saw two of our party sick afterwards BUT THAT WAS NOT THE FAWLTY TOWER 's moments. We arrived at 12 a.m. to hit the masses at the beginning of January, we were picked and sitting in the wide dining area. After ten minutes or so, a male waiter arrived at the age of about 30 to 40 years and took our drinks orders. Then we waited. In this phase the entire restaurant was still about 3/4 empty. Then 5 minutes later he is back, but not with drinks, but finally to take our food order. After a further 15 minutes, the local leader of our group rose up and went after the drinks that were told to him that they did not come unsafe. So he came back and we waited and waited and waited. After a further 15 minutes he rose again and went after the waiter and was told (we could hear) that we already received our drinks! He answered, "Look at the table there are no glasses. The waiter turned away from him and disappeared. We thought he had the drinks. No, he just disappeared. Now about 35 minutes after the order, our leader comes up and asks the waiter what happens? My colleague must have forgotten, I will see. Five minutes later, he'll show up and ask us what we want to drink. About under 15 minutes later, the drinks will finally turn up, which was placed 55 minutes after the order when the restaurant was about 1/4 full. BTW didn't get our food. Another 12 minutes or so and the food comes (77 minutes after arrival of the masses). Or rather a part of it. My meal and others have disappeared. 15 minutes we go by, our guide will ask about the two missing meals. Meanwhile, the tourism woman comes and asks if we want to fill out a survey. We bet! 10 or so minutes later, the two missing meals appear after all the others have finished their meals. It's about 102 minutes since we arrived. The two of us eat fast, while all the others end the 60 question survey and return it. The guide, and all others, quite upset, what should our 'fast' lunch ask if we 'd mind when they call the waiter to pay while we eat ready. No problem. The normal custom in any restaurant on the mountain is for ski groups to pay separately each person / couple pay for their own food or drinks. The waiter comes back and demands the total amount of our guide who reminds him of this custom (done any other visit here btw). His answer This will take me time, you do it! Our strongly embarrassing and rather shy guide folds and excuses us. I have a look at tourism officials waiting for my survey (which is written much more comments) and she just shakes her head. Our guide then adds the articles to each person and works out their part of the bill, he then tries to get something from his own purse without success. I step in and help with the change of notes and confirm its calculations and check the total amount together to make sure it is correct. And that was it. One of our group refused to pay as a group and explained if he wants his money, then he can give XXXX good to me change! The waiter makes a look, this man sends his message to the waiter who gives him reluctant change, then he sees that I put the stack of notes down and literally snaps the money without saying a word, puts it into his purse/belt, goes away from a few steps behind me. One minute or so later I hear some Grunting from behind me, but am too tightly pink with the addition of the other comments section on the survey. More grin I'm on my shoulder. You owe ten euros. No, we don't have the whole amount. You owe ten euros. You're wrong. You owe ten euros. Doesn't Fawlty Towers look like 5 stars? I look at him, no, and he's doing a show of looking at his pad, explaining that he's wrong, turning and going away. The conversation on the table turns to absolute disbelief, with anyone who refuses to set foot again. No one could believe that there was no excuse for the delays we were charged for the drinks. Then force the leader to collect and change the amounts, let alone that you owe ten more euros. So we cleared the table and left a 1 cent tip in the middle of the table. When I walked from the poor tourist woman, the poor tourist woman came by and apologised and said that the man is not out of the valley, but this is not an excuse for how I saw he treated you and your group. Please don't take that as the valley is. I assured him that we knew how friendly the valley was, but this man had set a new low that would be long spoken on the slopes. And it was within three days I had someone, not for lunch, told me everything about the incident and warned me to avoid it like the plague.
Great restaurant/cafe bar, great location, great food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere inside and out.
