Sorry, I drove to this bakery for Donuts, passing Dunkin. Wish I'd have gone to Dunkin. Donuts I got were stale. Not good. I dont know about other items. But morning shore donuts, NO!
There is a reason they are never busy! I was the first customer of the day, and anxious for donuts and pastries for the house, for breakfast. I got Boston cream donuts, chocolate covered donuts and several others. I could hardly see into the cases, as they were so steamed up...evidence that something wasn 't right. She gets out a bag to put them in, so I asked for a box, knowing I was getting iced donuts which would stick together. We don 't have boxes , she says. She got the Biston cream first and I could see all the cream on the bottom of the donut, and asked her not to stack them,as I didn 't want custard all over the chocolate icing of the next donut. She says, I 'll put tissue between them . I expressed concern that they were going to stick and be unpresentable. She got indignant, and said, Look, I 've been doing this for a lot of years and I know they don 't stick . Needless to say, I had a mess when I got back to our shore house. Not only were they all stuck to the paper, there was NO custard inside the donut; it was all on the bottom and made the donut all wet and soggy. They were NOT fresh. They tasted about a week old. Stale and hard, except for the soggy bottom floating in the custard that should have been inside the donut. The chocolate covered donuts were also old, and all the icing was stuck to next donut. She didn 't use tissue between these. if you are at the shore, don 't waste your time at Potito 's Bakery. Drive a few extra miles and go to Brintons in the Crest. They won 't disappoint and their associates are friendly and their pastries are fresh.
Stopped by for donuts on a Saturday morning to surprise my kids. Surprise was on me. The donuts were not only on the expensive side, they were the worst donuts ever. They we're definitely not fresh. I took one bite of the jelly donut and threw the rest away. Colossal waste of time and money.
Sorry Potito’s! Your donuts were not baked the day I bought them and shouldn’t have been sold as fresh baked. The cannoli was mediocre. The raspberry crumb cake saved you though. That was delicious. Slightly disappointed. Won’t be returning anytime soon. Nothing like Ritner Street.
