First time ever attending a British restaurant. It was awesome! Great atmosphere, staff and owner super friendly. Get the stonut! It was to die for! 10/10 would get again.
If you're looking for good live music and fantastic British food, look no further. Stoney's has been a North Wilmington staple for three decades and there's a reason why: it is uniquely authentic in both its cuisine and and libations. The shepherd's pie, which my wife got, was not only well seasoned but was a very reasonable portion size. I got the Bridie and it was also perfectly cooked inside a delicate pastry that melted in my mouth. We had dinner with another couple who both got the fish and chips and they told us it was the batter was very light as it should be. Now on to the booze; there are several solid British beers on tap and and an even bigger bottle selection. Try anything from Samuel Smiths and you can't go wrong. For an after dinner dram I had Stoney's whiskey of the month (for the life of me I can't remember the name) which was a 25 year old for only $10! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because our table was set up right next to the band, who were great, and at times it was hard to hear ourselves. It might behoove Stoney to remove a table or two that are right up front when a band is playing. If you're looking for a different experience than your normal eating establishment then give Stoney's a try. Just be patient with the staff; like the rest of the industry Stoney's is not immune to staffing shortages and your meal will probably take a little longer than what you're accustomed to. I promise it's worth the wait.
I brought my family to this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. I had never tried English food before, so it was a new cultural experience for me. We ordered a Scottish Egg, Fish and Chips, and Toffee Pudding. The food was amazing - the batter was light and fluffy, and the pudding was delicious until the last bite! The restaurant is a cozy little pub. I highly recommend this place! Just be aware that the food may seem simple, as this is how authentic British cuisine is traditionally prepared. Make sure to use the sauces provided to enhance the flavors!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at this restaurant. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who shared with us his background as a music promoter in the seventies and eighties. The live band playing blues music added to the fantastic atmosphere.
I had an amazing meal at this restaurant with a great atmosphere. The service was impeccable. The bangers and mash were delicious, and the sausages were exceptional. The Yorkshire pudding was amazing as well. And the dessert, the "stonut," was a must-try. It's a fantastic donut topped with cinnamon sugar, vanilla ice cream, and a divine sauce. You have to try it, you won't regret it!
