We booked this place through Airbnb and the day before checking in, Craig the host emailed to say he could not longer host us as he double booked. We asked him to contact us and he did not have the decency to do this nor to give us a refund, meaning hours on the phone with airbnb to finally get out money back. Judging by other reviews, best thing you can do is to avoid the place. Cheers Craig, you ruined our weekend in Devon! Rooms: 1

New owners so very amateurish. Our room was not made up and had to wait nearly 2hours. However the chef was very good and had a very good evening meal. Very disappointed that while we were eating our evening meal the owner walked past us an did not look at us or enquire as to if everything was OK Rooms: 1 Service: 2 Location: 2 Hotel highlights: Quiet

The owner told my wife that our comments were completely false. We were not rude to the staff when we arrived. Initially, she claimed she didn't have a reservation under my name, so I had to show her the confirmation. Then she said I had booked a single room and that the double rooms weren't ready! After an hour, the owner finally arrived, looked at us, and bluntly asked, "What do you want?" I must say, however, that the evening meal was excellent. As for the rooms, they are worn out and outdated, as reflected in my photos. The best feature was that they had Netflix on the TV.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip, and I must say, it's a charming old establishment with plenty of character and a fantastic location. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and also had breakfast there—both meals were superb. I would highly recommend this hotel. As for the food and drinks, the dining experience was outstanding; I'd definitely choose to eat here even if I weren't a guest. Overall, I would rate the rooms a solid 5.
