However, when it was time for me to receive my food, the server held my order back until all the white patrons received theirs. My order number was 26, while he was serving number 36. When I asked if my food was next, he checked my number and told me it wasn’t ready, even though my food had been sitting there for five minutes. It felt like he had no intention of serving me until all the white customers were taken care of. Additionally, he was quite rude when I asked about bread that should come with my soup, saying I wouldn't be getting any. The whole experience left me feeling frustrated and disappointed, and I can't help but wonder if the situation would have been different if I were a different demographic. I definitely won't be returning!
I had lunch today, and it truly surpassed my expectations. I really enjoy their pick 2 1/2 combo options since you can choose any sandwich or salad without any restrictions. I went with a half arugula and yellow beet salad topped with goat cheese and pecans, and when I added the curry dressing, it transformed into a unique and delicious dish! Additionally, I tried a half sandwich with turkey, cheese, pesto, and roasted red peppers on focaccia. By the end of the meal, I felt both full and satisfied. It was a bit on the pricey side—$12.50 for all three items, including a drink—but it was definitely worth it. Yum!
I had the pleasure of visiting Purebread Bakery four times while I was in Wilmington, as my friend was in the hospital. The food was not only delicious but also fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. The service was exceptional! Every single employee was friendly, polite, and genuinely kind. I want to extend a big thank you to the entire staff for brightening my time in Wilmington! I only wish there was a Purebread location in North Carolina. (I visited the one at 500 Delaware St).

The food is okay but quite pricey, and unfortunately, it doesn't provide enough quantity or quality to warrant the high costs. The soups are average, the salads are satisfactory, and the sandwiches range from just slightly above average to quite underwhelming. I would strongly recommend against ordering the corned beef special; you’ll end up with one incredibly thin slice of corned beef on otherwise decent toasted bread. If you’ve ever had a real deli experience in New York, you’re likely to feel quite let down.
