Fabulous Sunday lunch in a beautiful setting with great service

My family and I met for a celebratory supper and weren’t disappointed. The food is excellent and the menu varied but not too extensive. We all said it was hard to choose from such an interesting and varied menu. The staff are friendly and helpful and the new outdoor seating allows views over the adjoining fields. It isn’t heated but we were offered blankets and were very cosy. Excellent value for money and thoroughbred recommended.

The Compasses is a near-perfect pub. The location is idyllic, and the staff are super friendly and attentive. Plus, the food is consistently brilliant with a varied, revolving menu that is always chuffing delicious (technical term). My only hesitation for sharing praise is that it gets too busy, and I can't book a table.

We had such a lovely evening at The Compassses in Chicksgrove. Service could not have been better quick, efficient and polite. We shared starters of humous and deep fried chilli squid, and then all had the steak and chips perfectly cooked rare, absolutely delicious, hot and so tasty with a lovely bottle of mellow red wine I was in heaven and the best way to go out for the first time in a long time!

A very special historic pub. Great atmosphere, staff and food. We had a very enjoyable Sunday roast here today.
