We thoroughly enjoyed our recent Black Friday degustation experience. The courses were well spaced, flavoursome and presented beautifully. Matching wines enhanced the experience, as did the super friendly and attentive waitress. Absolutely top value, can't recommend this place highly enough. One thing though, the carpark needs much better lighting. This is a safety issue - not being familiar with the place we entered from the side and almost walked straight into the pond next to the walkway. Likewise when leaving through the main entrance the walk through the garden area/stairs and into the car park itself was really dark.
Had lunch here with the family mid week ,the dishes were huge , me and the wife ordered 2 dishes to share and we took most of the chicken curry home with us it was so big !!we have a 2 year old and there wasn't a great deal of things to do for young ones , but great food and the staff were nice and beer was good , and you might just bump into a couple of local surfing legends !!!
Decided to make a visit down South from Australind. Stopped at a garden centre in Busselton for coffee and brought some plants and then meandered down through Dunsborough visiting Meeluo Beach and Castle Rock Beach. We had decided to return to the Black Brewery in Margaret River for lunch as we enjoyed our last visit there in December 2016 and it was an opportunity to buy some more of their great Rice Lager. On entering the Brewery via a different door from last time,we noticed that they now have a separate area for tastings of their beers and wines which also includes selling some of their clothes products based on the Black Brewery logo. A lady behind the tasting counter directed us not the main restaurant hall where we were greeted by a waitress who guided us to a table and handed us a menu. We noticed a few slight changes to the menu by way of dishes but the theme is the same, small and large shared platters. We chose small platters of crispy pork belly with a sauce of Tamarind, pineapple and bean shoot salad, a salad of pawpaw with radish, bean sprouts, sesame and shiso dressing and a large platter of a Moroccan lamb with pickled red onion, sumac yoghurt and couscous. I had a glass of Azahara sparkling wine to accompany the meal.It was a short wait for the food, they are obviously very organised in the kitchen to have prepared their dishes for the platter so therefore it is quick to organise. The Pawpaw salad was a standout for its freshness and I will definitely be attempting to replicate this salad at home in the warmer months. The Moroccan lamb was beautiful as it was the last time we ate it and the pork belly platter was divine and so well presented with it's accompanying sauce. Service is attentive but not over the top. What sets this Brewery apart from others in the area is that it offers restaurant quality food and not pub style food. The only criticism I have is of the overly loud music in the background. My husband also complained of having to line up behind those wishing to purchase tasting drinks when he was trying to pay the bill at the end. The Brewery needs to separate these two things and have a separate till. However, I was happy that I included a 6 pack of their rice based lager on the bill. I am not a beer drinker but this lager is light and fruity and is excellent for the Summer hot weather. The Brewery was busy and a large group arrived while we were eating. No doubt it is popular for functions and for groups but we as a couple were happy to enjoy the ambiance for lunch albeit for the extra loud music.
A must when down south. The place is big with a huge range of boutique Beers. The meals are great. The atmosphere great. A big open fire entices you to stay around. Over looks a great lake with water feature. Great place summer or winter
