Costa Coffee - Winchester

Popped in on a cold November morning for a cuppa... Tea coffee all good.. Toilets were filthy, furniture ripped, worn out dirty and spoons looked like they needed a good wash...

Coffee from popular chain cafes can sometimes be inconsistent in quality. I visited this particular chain late in the afternoon, but the staff were still welcoming and accommodating. I just wanted a good cappuccino, and that's exactly what I got. Even though it was obvious that they were preparing to close soon, they didn't rush me at all.

I recently visited Costa at Weeke Gate, Stoney Lane and was disappointed to find that they do not have their own entry on Tripadvisor. The staff were friendly and accommodating, but my issue lies with the coffee. Costa recently made changes to their coffee by roasting the beans longer, resulting in a stronger and more intense blend. However, my wife and I have found that the caffeine content in their medium cappuccinos has left us feeling wired and in need of water after our visits. After experiencing this twice in a row, we have decided to no longer go to Costa for our regular post-shopping coffee fix.

The service at this restaurant was very disappointing. I work at a hospital and only have a 30-minute break. Today, I went to buy a cheese and ham toast, and then stopped at a nearby shop to buy a cold drink. I waited for a long time, rang the bell three times, and was completely ignored. I left without a drink, and the toast was no longer warm. The service was terrible today.

Drinks are nicely made and customer service is good but my god the toilets are awful walking into them feels like I’m in a wartorn area and just been stink bombed
