The staff went above and beyond to make the occasion a memorable and happy one. There was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the room and the tables were set perfectly. We had a parking issue and the manager, sorted it for us. I can recommend The Wykeham Arms and Sian particularly for her patience with all our dietary needs and requests.
A very disappointing meal. Over priced for a very small portion of vegetarian pasta! I mentioned how small the portion was to the manager and all he said was he’d tell the chef! We left hungry and paid £70 for 2 with one drink
An enjoyable 2 night stay between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, the perfect location while spending Christmas with family nearby. We stayed in the superior Post Box room, in the building directly opposite. The steep staircase wouldnt suit everyone, but the room itself was very nice. The staff were all polite, friendly and helpful, at an inevitably busy time on Christmas Eve afternoon when we checked in. The bar area was bustling throughout and friendly. We ate at the restaurant late on Christmas Eve and we both thoroughly enjoyed the chilli prawns (a substitution for the sold out mussels), Wyke pie and crumble, all ofvwhich were excellent. We struggled to understand the negative feedback from some recent reviewers about food quality and portion size. Yes the portions could be slightly bigger, but we were not left hungry. We would have no hesitation in staying and dining here again, on our next trip to Winchester.
Smashing old worldly pub with a wonderful vibe. The food is delicious with a small but varied menu. We both had the fish and chips and agreed it was the best we’d ever had. The puds were also superb the panna cotta a revelation! Loved everything about this pub plus the quirky toilets!
We live in london- wimbledon. Our local pub serves excellent sandwiches Here we ordered a beef sandwich with chips and it was £15. Wouldn’t have minded if there had been a choice of bread (white only it seems or if there was a choice nobody asked) Doorsteps of stale bread with 2 pieces of beef and a lot of grainy mustard. Chips were OK. I did complain and they said “maybe the chef toasted it” Really? On both sides? Very poor value. The pub itself is very quaint and was surprisingly busy.
