Also ordered ox tongue skewers and chicken thigh skewers. The tonkatsu meat was delicious, not dry, tender, full of flavor, good fat content with that crumb, was superb, the tonkatsu sauce was balanced with sweet and sour and the honey sesame sauce that came with the cabbage was the best sesame dressing I’ve ever had. The ox tongue which was an 18hr cook the best I’ve had and I’ve had a fair few, this one was nice and tender, each mouthful was heaven with that tare sauce, togarashi and sesame oil. The chicken thigh was good but if I had to order skewers again I’d go with ox tongue. Overall I found this place excellent, service was excellent, they apologized for the rush as it was getting busy which was fine. I’d definitely come back
The food here is excellent and very authentic; it brings back memories of my time in Japan. The service is great as well. I ordered the takeaway pork tonkatsu with rice and miso, and it was delicious.
This restaurant serves not just authentic Japanese cuisine, but A+ quality Japanese food as well. If you're craving Tonkatsu, you can't go wrong here—it's the best Melbourne has to offer.
We walked by Ton Co during lunchtime, and decided to grab some takeaway to give it a try. We had heard great things about their tonkatsu, so we were thrilled to find it open and offering a 10% discount on all takeaway orders! We sampled the striploin and rib-eye, and both were incredible—juicy and tender. We paired them with curry and miso sauce, and the original tonkatsu sauce was also delicious! The rice and miso soup perfectly complemented the meal; the miso soup tasted fresh and homemade, not like it came from a packet. Overall, we were very pleased with our meal and impressed by the friendly service. We'll definitely return when we're in the mood for some excellent katsu!
We’ve had the pork ribeye and striploin along with curry sauce and their dark miso sauce. The pork has a nice mouth-feel as they are cooked just right, fatty but not oily. Both of them were outstanding and you can taste the effort the chef has put into the dishes. This is probably the best tonkasu in melbourne.
