Joe Black Coffee - Winnipeg Canada

Joe Black Coffee Bar, located on Portage Avenue, just across from the entrance to Assiniboine Park, is one of those places that I have visited several times over the years without ever reviewing. It’s right at a bus stop, and a place to get away from the crowds when park traffic is really busy. I’ve been trying to get out and review some more restaurants in the St. James neighbourhood, and so finally decided to visit with the intent to review.

Nice atmosphere. Great coffee! Don't have the peanut butter marshmallow squares because the squares taste old! Everything else is good! Great place for a date!

Last night changed my outlook on life and the human race. I brought my middle child in for a hot chocolate on her 11th birthday. We had a family dinner at home and then took her out shopping (we had forgotten to sing 'happy birthday ' at home and she wasn 't really finding anything that she wanted present-wise). I 've never taken her into Joe Black before and it was on the way home, so I stopped there. <br/ <br/ While ordering, it came out that it was her birthday and the manager and staff there made her drink with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle and sprinkles. My daughter was loving her drink. <br/ <br/ All of a sudden the manager came over and had a plate with a big piece of cake, whipped cream, a strawberry and a lit candle in the cake. He went waaaaay above and beyond what he needed to do last night. Her birthday vibe was changed around and she LOVED it!! <br/ <br/ I thanked him and told him how much it meant to us as we were leaving, as I know that it 's not something they would usually do and I love what he said: 'That is one of my future customers '. <br/ <br/ I will be frequenting this coffee shop more and will make sure to pass it on how wonderful the staff are (and how good the cake was). He now has a few more customers for life.

I spent my entire 20$ groupon and more today at Joe Black Coffee, and not because it is expensive but because it is amazing. They have a great variety of sandwiches and breakfast items. Mouth watering pastries and amazing Vegan and Gluten-Free options! I got the Butter Chicken Naan Wrap and it was outstanding! It's a healthy, well portioned, tomato based spin on a classic Indian dish.WOW WONDERFUL FOOD!

The Hummus Wrap was phenomenal! A light meal that reminds you that you are eating healthy and clean without sacrificing flavor. Thumbs up!
