Feedback gevenBen&Florentine is definitely one of the best breakfast place in the city!(I honestly think it’s better than some of the other ones like Cora, Pancake House etc.) It has a huge variety of selections, delicious dishes and absolutely amazing home fries (matched perfectly with apple sauce). They also have a nice atmosphere (clean and lots of lights) and good service. One thing to note is that they may have a long wait list on weekends/holidays. They try to seat you as soon as tables clear up though and it is worth the wait!
My wife and I were told on arriving there was a 20 minute wait time. Twenty minutes later, after many groups were seated who had arrived after us, I asked when we would be seated. I was told there were only a few tables to seat two people, about 90% of tables were for groups of 3 or more and probably we would be seated in 10-15 minutes time. We would have to wait until a 'two table' was free. I stood at the head of the line, refusing to move, and dealt with 3 levels of management to loudly complain. The 'Manager' finally, and reluctantly, seated us in a four person booth. A patron should not have to deal with this type of agro to get a seat. Food was good but overpriced, table service was good, but management need to smarten up! WILL NOT RETURN.
My wife and I with our son and granddaughter (age 3) were here for lunch on Tuesday of this week. The restaurant has no baffles, no interior dividers in the eating area, and is very noisy inside. Service was prompt and pleasant and knowledgeable. There are easily fifty breakfast menu items and as many or more for lunch. This restaurant is not open for dinner.Of the four orders, the only one that rated a decent comment was the kiddie grilled cheese sandwich which our granddaughter ordered. The Mexican parilla (a panini) was hopelessly overdone in the panini press, as was my panini chorizo. Both were not just crunchy, but actually bite-defying hard on the outside. The Potato pancakes ordered. with the parilla were very good. The supreme philly steak was just so-so.My french fries that came with the panini were again totally overdone, barely edible, but the home fries that came with the grilled cheese and philly steak were good.We will not be coming back to Ben and Florentine,.
Consistently great brunch options with some French-Canadian options, bagels with salmon and lox, surprisingly good buttermilk chicken and waffles and tasty skillets, only complaint would be a few options weren't available on last visit and coffee isn't their strong point.
Really poor service...the waitresses were very disorganized and forgetful. The wait for placing an order, getting served and finally getting a bill was unacceptable...and the food was just warm ...edible, but not very tasty. We won’t be paying another visit.
