All their fish (and shrimp) can be made Cajun or blackened upon request. Highly suggest this if you're looking to jazz things up. Unfortunately the fries are really just average but there is a Pretty good selection of sides the daily vegetable, garlic mashed potatoes and Caesar salads are our favourites. Or upgrade to the sweet potato fries the lime mayo dip is different and delicious. Service is quick as a bonus if you're short on time.
We came in for lunch the other day and got the fish tacos and the fish and chips, they both came with fries and coleslaw and it was all so good. I am picky when it comes to coleslaw but theirs is so good. This is also a restaurant with great prices and fast service. We were impressed!
Something's fishy here... as it should be!. We have been semi regulars here since it opened and it was great at the start and has stayed consistently a wonderful place for fish and chips! I tried their ribs once as well and they were excellent, but this is a fish joint and that is what they do best! The fries are hand cut, they have malt vinegar, and the fish.... ah, the fish! We usually go on their all you can eat fish and chips night. They are fairly skimpy on the fries, but since this is all you can eat I applaud them for not trying to fill us up on cheap fries instead of fish and they are happy to bring more if you like! The batter is excellent too very traditional taste and the fish is piping hot when delivered to your table. If you have a hankering for brain food, this is the place! IT is of the same calibre as Jim's Fish and Chips (long gone, but not forgotten) which was the best place for fish in Manitoba! It may be a franchise, but it feels like a Mom and Pop establishment and staff treats you like family or regulars the first time you come in the door! Try them, you will not regret it.
Always excellent service and fresh and tasty food. The servers are always very friendly and attentive. We usually get the classic fish and chips. Last time I tried the cajun combo. It was basa fish and shrimp. Really tasty. The fries tend to be a bit wimpier than we like ao we are going to try asking for extra crispy next time and see how that works out. Great place!
We moved away from Winnipeg 3 years ago. My husband and son stopped in for a visit while traveling recently and were greeted like old friends. I wish I'd been there too. I haven't been able to find a fish chip meal anywhere near as good as Joey's for a long time. And yes, we still have the Finley stuffie that Brenda gave to my son so many years ago.
