Montana's BBQ & Bar - Winnipeg

I found myself up at Saint Vital Centre the other day, and couldn’t decide where to eat. There are a lot of choice in the area, but none struck my fancy. In the end I went with Montanas Cookhouse, because it was closest to where I crossed the street. By nature I’m not a fan of chains. I prefer local, but once in a while I’ll give a chain a try. Montana’s is one of these places that I’m sure I visited ages ago. Like most of those, I have not real memory of the food. What I do remember I’ll be talking about later in the review.

Food was good, service was just okay.. Our group of 8 dined here for a birthday on Saturday night. The food at Montana's is the good barbecued kind. I enjoyed my meal the Chipotle Firecracker Burger, and others at my table did, too. A couple folks did not enjoy their dinners, however, specifically the belgian waffle chicken burger it was a new menu item that went with the current promotion. Both diners said the waffle was too sweet and ruined the burger. For the most part, our group had a good time. Our server could have been slightly more attentive refilling our drinks, but it was Saturday night and he was probably busy. It is not really my issue that he is busy. After all, I am the paying customer, so I expect my drink to be refilled and not sit empty for too long. If it is too busy, perhaps just leave us with a pitcher, that would make sense. Other than this minor bit of unattentiveness, our experience was very good.

Good Food. I have never had a bad experience at Montana's Cookhouse, The food is great and the waitresses are always very friendly. Sometimes the food can run a bit pricey but its worth it for the amount of food you get. Also the scenery in the restaurant is awesome.

This restaurant offers generous portions at a great price! The entrees are very filling and there is plenty of food to share with others.

I love the rib tips at this restaurant. My friends and I often switch between this location and the one at Polo Park. The ribs are consistently delicious at Montanas, I've never had a bad experience with them. We typically wait around 20-30 minutes at either location, but it's not a problem as it gives us time to relax, chat, and watch whatever sports game is on TV (we always sit in the lounge). Our meals are always cooked perfectly, hot, and the portion sizes are generous. I will definitely keep coming back when I'm craving ribs or anything else. The service has always been efficient for us, with some servers going above and beyond.
