The vegetables on the side seemed to be frozen and reheated by their texture. The rice was flavourless. The food was served lukewarm. The only upside is a nice setting and fresh breadrolls.
We went to Monticchio for a family birthday. While we have been there several times in years past we had not been back recently. The mussels, both Monticchio classics and Sambucca, were as amazing as we remembered. The food was hot and served in a timely fashion. But the hi-light for me was the older gentleman who wandered around the restaurant and greeted the guest by saying Bon Appetitto. I can only assume he was the owner (?). It made the Italian meal seem more authentic.
Try to visit once every month or so. Staff is very knowledgable about the menu and the food is always piping hot when plated. Love the bread but have to watch not to eat too much before receiving your food. Looking forward to our next visit as they have a new menu. It is also very affordable.
We've been here many times; they never disappoint The bread knots served with dinner are amazing and the entrees are great value considering the large portion size. Lemon veal and lemon chicken would have to be our go-to's. Whole menu is delicious!
Let me be absolutely clear: if all you care about is the food, this is the place for you. The chef is the only one there who gives a darn. If you expect polite servers to go along with it, go somewhere else. But the food is fantastic! Among the best Italian in Winnipeg.
