It was 8 pm on a Sunday. I had a Winnipeg Fringe show at 9 nearby and needed something to eat. Moxie's met my criteria - it was (a) close (b) open and (c) serving food. With a name like "Grill and Bar" I expected the usual burgers, nachos and chicken fingers. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a full menu. But it got better. I ordered the chicken madeira rigatoni, and found it delicious - the pasta was nicely al dente, the chicken grilled exactly to my taste, the mushrooms fresh, and the sauce strong but not excessive. As good a pasta dish as I have had anywhere. My server (Kerrie) was also excellent. Just the right balance between charming and professional, and attentive without being irritating. I asked for my meal to be served quickly (Fringe show), and I had it within 10 minutes. She was quick to refill my drinks, to provide condiments, and to provide the bill when asked. It is a pleasure to be served by someone who does their job so well you just don't notice (although I have had enough bad servers that I *do* notice). I see other reviews complimenting servers - somebody in Moxie's clearly "gets it" that the servers are the face of the resto and is choosing and training them accordinglyMy only reason for 4 "stars" instead of 5 was the street noise, which (even at 8 pm on a Sunday) was more than noticeable. Recommended without hesitation
As per usual, awesome. Friendly staff, good food etc. They made an error in my order, wrong accompaniment... so they just brought me what I had wanted and let me keep what they brought in error. Perfect example of great customer service.
Had drinks and dinner before a show at MTS Center. It was very busy but we were lucky to find a small table in the lounge. We started with the Mosaic dip which had lots of mushrooms and goat cheese and flatbread. Was tasty but over priced at $13.99. Also had the Street Tacos and Fish Tacos. Both were ok but pretty bland. They would have been extremely bland if not for the cute little bottle of not so hot sauce. Again a little pricy for the portion size. Everything was hot and service was really good especially considering how busy it was. Bite of Sticky Toffee Pudding was delicious but could have used more sauce. Overall nothing bad but nothing memorable either.
We ended up eating here the first night in town before we realized and found all the other great restaurants we ate during our trip. It a chain restaurant with nothing amazing or different on the menu. The first night there I had the Moxie mojito which I didn't like and it really didn't taste like much, with the burger which I did enjoy. The following time I returned for lunch, the bathroom was disgusting, and two girls had just finished smoking a joint and were getting dressed up at the sinks!!! I ordered the pull pork tacos and the sangria. The tacos were ok but nothing I would return there for and the Sangria was the same. The person accompanying me had the fish tacos and personally I thought they tasted horribly.
