We stumbled across the Matador Restaurant as we walked toward the escalators down form the 2nd floor. What we found was a casual dining experience with extremely friendly and courteous staff that quickly delivered our meals. Prices were reasonable and equal to the quality of food. We observed interactions with several patrons and the owner and it was clear that these were repeat customers. Would I come here again, absolutely. It was not fancy but exceeded our expectations.
This is a small (12 tables) cafe with a good variety of food choices. It's in the middle of the Portage Place Mall, right in the centre of downtown Winnipeg. The prices are reasonable and the service is good.
A little pricy, but the quality is excellent. The owner works with his staff to get it right, and I've always thought it was worth paying top dollar from time to time for the top quality here. I recommend it, especially if the boss is willing to spring. Hours are daytime only.
The best Matador Salad, homemade frise and chicken fingers in the city.
I love the lunch special they used to have, half sandwich and salad.. I recommend the tuna with all the toppings and the greek salad
