Sei Sushi Restaurant - Winnipeg

This restaurant got smart and added pickerel to its menu for those that don't love sushi. I love sushi and have a terrible time convincing my family to eat anywhere sushi related with me as they dislike it. When we saw that Sei Sushi offered fish and chips I managed to convince my Dad, Mom, brother etc. to eat there with me. This is the best pickerel we've ever eaten...you can opt for pickerel and salad for a healthier choice or a variety of great sushi. Service is fantastic and it is a family run restaurant that pays great attention to cleanliness, service and quality.

Since going here the first time in January and on that day we not only had lunch but we returned for supper because the Teriyaki Beef and the Volcano Sushi my partner gets (a sushi roll covered in a cooked sauce containing crab, shrimp, salmon etc) was so good we just HAD to return. The veggies were done about 1 min longer than my lunch time visit making it perfection. We've gone back so many times In the past four weeks I've lost count. This past week alone we were there 4 times. The two sisters who wait the tables, Sara and April, know us by name now and though we're tempted to try something else we end up having the same meal over and over. When we walk through the door they greet us with a smile and ask if we want the usual which of course we do.

The restaurant is currently closed for renovations but when open their sushi selection is wide, fresh and very reasonable. The owners are very friendly and the surprising find is their fish and chip special for lunch, if you are not in the mood for sushi.

My good friend and I happened upon on this neat little restaurant and are glad we did - when we walked in at 11:45 on a Monday there was one other couple there. When we left an hour later, every table was occupied and several people had been by for take-away orders. The sushi is solid and tasty although they were a little light on the ginger and wasabi. The servers were very pleasant.. I would recommend Sei for lunch if you're on this end of town.

Absolutely fantastic, very clean presentation of the plating. Excellent service. Definitely the best sushi in the city. Will be coming back and would highly recommend to friends.
