Accommodation and conversation staff. We came 45 minutes before lunch without reservation, but they sat right away. It was the second day when they were reopened after the holidays (they close about a month) and were very busy; but there was no long waiting time for our food. The waitress shared the history of the area and recommended doing things both in Old Salem and downtown. We followed their recommendations and had a great time! You recommend reservations for all meals. I tried to call at lunch and no one picked up the phone, so I'd call first. Once again, just stop, work for us. We will probably try more food again! What we had was delicious and decent for lunch. I want to try the quality of the cheaper plates.
The Tavern was a really nice experience. Waiting was a bit long, but the food was absolutely worth it. At the beginning the atmosphere of the restaurant was very authentic and funny. It was illuminated with candlelight, there were fiddlers who moved around the different dining rooms, and the tables and dining room settings appear as if from this time. When the food arrived, I was very impressed. The rolls and pumpkin bread on the hand was moist and warm as you want bread. My soup, the Cheddar and the Bratwurst, was done. The main course, wild boar, was excellent. I can't say enough good things about it. The red wine reduction was phenomenal and the wild boar was tender. I hardly needed my knife. I highly recommend getting the wild boar if you can! The waitress was also very funny and friendly all the time. While eating on the pricier side is a rewarding treatment. You must pass this place sometime!
Wonderful pot roast with potatoes and green beans. Only baked love rolls and pumpkin muffins. And ending with the gingerbread desert is our favorite. The bar room service was great this morning at 11:00. Perfect lunch.
Good menu-I wish we could have tried more. The desserts looked and sounded amazing. The fried okra was very good and the pretzel was tasty (watch out for the horseradish in the mustard sauce! Decor and wait staff are according to the old time period (early 1900s? . Reasonable pricing and convenient when seeing Old Salem. Parking available on the street or visitor center.
