Goldenes Kreuz - Winterthur

The hotel is located in an old beautiful house above a well rated restaurant. The rooms are clean and full-fill expectations. However, the stuff is rather unfriendly and not helpful in case of need. During my stay the hotel and restaurant was vacuum-cleaned very noisily on Sunday morning 6.30 (no joke) and my request to reduce the noise and to let me sleep a bit longer was ignored by two stuff members in a unfriendly way.

I visited this Restaurant with friends and my wife. We had the daily special menu and choose 4 of the 7 couses. Everything was well cooked. All in all an amazing dinner.

We have been visiting the Goldenes Kreuz ever since we moved to Frauenfeld back in 2006. over the last 14 years the quality of food, service and overall ambiance in the restaurant has never failed to over exceed our high expectations. If you 're looking for a first class restaurant in my humble opinion one of the top restaurants in Switzerland this is an absolute must. Food is great, prices are moderate for what you get. Location is a historic building (Goethe was supposedly eating here).

The food here is always top notch. Our favourites are the schnitzel and the amazing world-class beef. It’s a beautiful, cosy, intimate space inside and when the weather is nice we sit outside.
