The food was watered down gravy, not authentic indian food, having lived in india, i can honestly say this is the worst attempt at currySadly, people who have not tasted authentic indian cuisine, would think this was great,We won't be back We went to the kilcoy restaurant at 6.07pm on saturday night, they were ready to close, they are advertised as open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, they aren't open till after 2 at yarraman, if at all, and want to close at 6pm for dinner, yes, closing at 6pm. Seriously!Fasle advertising
We had breakfast at the restaurant, it was great value for money and the service was fast, efficient and friendly, what more could you ask for.
My wife and I were thrilled to see an Indian restaurant in Kilcoy as it is one of our favourite culinary experiences. We've eaten it all over the world including India itself and often cook it at home, so finding a place whilst visiting Kilcoy seemed such a bonus. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the food. The starters, samosa and bhaji, arrived overcooked and dry and when I ordered some raita it was merely yoghurt covered coleslaw. The two curries were flavourless and indistinguishable - the meat dry and overcooked. It was such a shame as we would love to see the restaurant succeed but to do that the "chef" really needs to get his/her act together. I only hope the people of Kilcoy don't think this is typical Indian fare.
We dropped in for a quick snack and enjoyed the friendly service received. It was casual dining at tables but the Indian food was good quality. We did not try the Chinese food. Meals were ample and flavoursome, well worth a visit.
My wife and I were over the moon to see in the local newspaper that an Indian restaurant had opened nearby. We were looking forward to a visit and decided to grab a take-away for later that day as we were in Kilcoy too early for dinner. We ordered a chicken vindaloo and a chicken Palak chicken as main dishes, with naan bread and onion bhaji. The naan bread was floppy and lacklustre from the outset and didn't appear to have been anywhere near a tandoor oven in it's life. It had little flavour to it and it added nothing to the meal overall. The onion bhaji was unrecognisable and tasted burnt. The vindaloo was dreadful. The chicken was dry and had a strange flavour - certainly not the chilli and tamarind I was expecting. The Palak chicken was the most disappointing of all the dishes. It simply didn't consist of the ingredients described on the menu.We were very careful in the process of warming the dishes so as to not compromise it. We're 'old hands' in getting this right. We're very keen curry fans and have sampled curries all over the world. Typical Goan dishes are very flavoursome, fragrant and excite the tastebuds. The offerings from this restaurant failed on all counts. Presentation of a dish sold as a take-away is somewhat outside the control of the restaurant. However, the contents of the meal are absolutely within restaurant control. The main dishes fell short of expectation and very short of the dish described in the menu.Needless to say, we complained. After a prolonged 'discussion' we were given a full refund. We will not be returning as the experience left a sour taste in the mouth for more than a single reason. My wife and I are keen to support local business whenever we can, but I fear that the offerings of this particular establishment will do little to enable sustaining the business in the long term. More worryingly, locals may actually consider that offerings such as these might be truly representative of good Indian food.Your mileage may vary of course. Maybe the 'chef' had an 'off day' possibly? Who knows for sure in this respect, but one thing I do know for sure is that we won't be visiting this particular establishment again.
