Feedback gevenThe flat white I had today was excellent. It was presented beautifully, which is not always the case. Heather made the coffee and Olly served it to the table. It was a pleasant touch to have a smile in this fast-paced world we live in. Well done! I really enjoyed it.
My friend and I met up at the coffee shop after not seeing each other for a few months and had a lot to catch up on. There were several dogs inside, including a large Dalmatian and some smaller ones. One of the dogs started to bark, setting off the others and creating a chaotic situation. Whenever a new dog entered, they all got worked up. It was very unsettling and noisy. We have decided to find a different place to meet next time.
My experience at this restaurant was not great. I went there for a quick coffee and a slice of cake, but ended up waiting 10 minutes just for the coffee, even though it was a quiet time of day. The coffee had an extremely bitter and strange taste, so I left most of it untouched. To make matters worse, during the 20 minutes I was there, I had to listen to two colleagues behind the counter complaining about their working hours, pay, and life in general. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable, so I decided to leave. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Dropped in for a coffee and bite to eat last Sunday at 4:15. Went to sit at at table in rear of cafe but were told by manager that the whole area was closed because they had cleaned it. We were forced onto the only available remaining small and uncomfortable table in the crowded front of shop (ironically that table hadn 't been wiped) What 's the point of closing half the business area nearly an hour before closing? It 's not the first time this has happened to us and we 've seen it happen to others too. We told our friends about this and they said they have stopped going into Rubens because, on a number of occasions, they 've had staff brushing and mopping up around them while they 're eating. This has been up to an hour before closing time. Just to make things even less appealing, recently there appears to be a developing tendency towards increasingly loud music . Again, judging by comments from fellow customers, we are not alone in our criticism. Not the place it used to be. We 're going elsewhere in future.
Called in on a Sunday morning prior to getting the bus at the terminus next door. On the blackboard behind the counter it clearly stated Breakfast muffins. I enquired what I could have on one, and was told in an unsmiling surly manner we don't cook any breakfast stuff, what you see is what we have. This consisted of crumpets, tea cakes, croissants and Danish pastries, that was about it. We ordered the crumpets and tea cake and coffees. The coffees were served, not asking who was having what, just put on the table. The tea cake wasn't even warm. If they don't want to be jn customer service, don't work there. Also the who I think was the manager was sat at a breakfast bar near us was sneezing throughout and wiping his nose on his arm and then after one sneeze, wiping the bar top with his hand, very hygienic considering what we have just been through over the last 2 years.
