Spice Venue - Witham

Spice Venue has been our Take away curry choice for many years now. They have consistently provided us with a rapid service, delivering excellent dishes from their brilliant chef. We have had quite a selection from their menu over the years and have rarely been disappointed. My personal favourite is a chicken dansak which I now use to benchmark other curry houses when travelling. So far no one else has come close.

I tried Spice Venue for the first time and it was a huge disappointment. Everything about the food was economical, the portion sizes were smaller than ususl, the amount of chicken in my chicken tikka, for example, was minimal. The biggest laugh or crying shame, came with the shami kebabs which without exception are 'burger patty ' size in every Indian restaurant I 've ever been to, Spice Venue appears to want to rip its customers off by giving you a shami kebab the size of a golf ball, less than half the normal size (at the same price! . Spice Venue do not deserve my hard earned cash when every other Indian restaurant I 've been to appears to try to at least give value for money even if it isn 't always to your taste. I did phone the owner regarding my disappointment regarding my food and it was arrogantly dismissed without any concern, quite shameful. If you are in any doubt this review is not accurate, simply order some shami kebabs and laugh at the size of them as I did!

Arrived literally 1 minute late, the lady was very apologetic. The order was incorrect (my husband ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala but instead got a Chicken Korma which was much cheaper) called up and spoke to Charlie who was very apologetic and said next time we order to mention this and they’d throw in some free onion bhajis to make up for their mistake. Food was lovely, though the onion bhajis were much more impressive the last time I ordered

Waited 1hr 10mins after being told 45mins delivery. Watched the driver drive passed twice before standing at the end of the drive they wouldn't come to the door I had to walk to their car. Food was cold, madras had no spice to it, didn't recieve the rice we ordered. After calling them they did offer to bring the rice.

Ordered takeaway from here for the first time tonight, all I can say is-amazing piping hot, really tasty, on a different level to all the other takeaways we have ordered before. Definitely hooked Spice Venue, well done you really deserve your five stars
