I called a week prior to make a reservation for two, based upon great recommendations from friends who had recently eaten at Gravina. I was told over the phone to just "walk in", it won't be busy, no need to reserve. OK, no problem. So I arrive on a weeknight and the place is quite busy - I had just secured one of the last tables it seemed. Whew! Server was friendly but unfortunately the evening turned out to be a comedy of errors. Wrong salad, wrong mains - for both of us. Long waits - there seemed to be a larger party being served, our meagre table of two was just a side distraction I suppose. While the server apologized profusely and said she had erred in entering our orders and the entire meal was complimentary, I wanted to note that the hot bread was very tasty, and the organic salad that eventually came out was good. Caprese salad was imbalanced in composition: Disproportionate amounts of arugula with a few cherry tomatoes. But the bufala mozzarella was good. My friend's spaghetti and meatballs arrived without the meatballs. And my custom order of mixed grilled seafood with mushroom risotto, well let's just say the order was mixed up. Twice. I'll never really know what the food at this place really tastes like because I won't be back. However, they were gracious in acknowledging the errors and should get top marks in that part of customer service.
We gathered with friends for a night out of food and drinks. This place is outstanding for food! The pizza was amazing, we had various ones sharing them, and they were delicious! The meat dish (veal) was tender and cooked perfectly, the stuffed gnocchi were fluffy and the sauce was just right. Each of us had different entre dishes and all of us were more than happy with our choices.
I am not used to review a restaurant's bread. This is an exception. This place, located on a nice Vaughan plaza just north of Weston rd and Major Mac. serves one of the most amazing home made Italian breads ever. Its manager/chef Mr. Gravina loves to follow personally every moment of its preparation. Bravo! Appetizers with fried jumbo calamari and Italy inspired Merluzzo fish. Pizza cooked iin a real wood fired oven. Very casual but still classy atmosphere.
I went a few time in this beautiful restaurant w my friends and every time is a nice experience for my mouth, and my wallet doesn't get light because the prices are very reasonable! The pizza is well cooked and the ingredients are so fresh, everytime I eat it I feel like in Italy! The meat is something special, the way of Chef Enzo cooks the steak is just pro. Absolutely 5 stars straight! Highly recommended, especially for Italians who miss the real taste of our cousine!
