This was the most unsettling experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The server was quite bizarre, the decor was dusty, outdated, and unappealing. The entire place reeked of stale cigarettes and desperation. My friends and I decided to give it a try after driving around for a while, but it turned out to be a terrible mistake. I ordered the steak fajitas, thinking that would be the safest option, but I was completely mistaken. What I received was a pizza-like dough that was soggy, filled with dry, overcooked meat, and accompanied by wet, slimy vegetables. How can someone mess up fajitas? Did the server accidentally write down "fajita pizza"? I felt like I needed to take a shower after that meal. This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, and I regret not leaving as soon as I walked in.
The food here is terrible. If you're a fan of canned chili slathered on a burrito filled with mystery ingredients, then this is the spot for you. I highly recommend avoiding the Italian beef; they serve it with cold soy sauce instead of au jus. The beef itself is gray, and the margaritas taste mostly like water.
The food was decent, but there was a noticeable unpleasant odor in the building. I won't be returning.
I'm not sure what the other reviewers experienced, but I have been dining here for years, and the tavern food is outstanding. It’s the best Ameri-Mex cuisine in the entire area!
