Players Grill - Woodstock

Players is a dump. Needs bar rescue to gut and redo the whole thing. Walk into outside smoking right in front of the door and ashtrays. The bartenders and restaurant manager are not friendly at all, borderline rude. The food is all mediocre deep fried snacks or processed sandwiches. I don't think I'd trust crab or anything like that based on the caliber of the basic stuff that sucks. Drinks are overpriced. The place is dirty. Sticky tables, unwiped bar, dirty dishwater smelly bar, Dirty carpeted floor, and filthy bathrooms. Outside music will blow your eardrums. Not uncommon to see people wasted from being over-served, or puke in the bathrooms. This is more of a dirty dive bar that is trying to be a restaurant. might be kinda fun if your goal is to get boozed up.

Had one of the worst experiences here Thursday. Ordered a Rachel sandwich and it was prepared with processed turkey, though the menu stated It was roasted turkey breast. Sandwich was toasted in oven and not flipped, so one side was soft and one side was toasted and looked as if it was prepared by someone who was not experienced in restaurant cooking. Onion rings were good. The overall cleanliness of restaurant was poor and the condition of the bathroom was unacceptable. It looked like someone had previously vomited in the stall and the back of the door was not properly cleaned.

This place has changed ownership and is now MAIN STAGE GRILL so that 's what this review is for. Unless you are a local , I would pass this one by. The place is tattered and worn and badly in need of renovation. I went on a Saturday evening primarily to listen to music. The music area is isolated from the sports bar area and restaurant a very odd arrangement. But no matter where you were you couldn 't escape the ear drum piercing mega decibels sound of the band. I had to put in earplugs as soon as I walked in the isolated music area. You couldn 't hear yourself talk, much less hear anyone talking to you. The place, in general, looked dirty and unkempt especially the women 's bathroom and the rest of the place was just unappealing looking. So unless the food and the band selection make up for the dingy atmosphere, I don 't think this place will fly beyond the draw of local attendees who probably supported the pre existing establishment. To the owner I would say invest some money in this place to create a more aesthetically pleasing environment. Also make some iced tea that actually tastes like iced tea instead of brown colored water. I can 't recommend because there are other competitors out there that are way more appealing. That said, I do wish the new owner well in his endeavour.

I've been here many times over the years for club meetings. The service is good (4 stars) and the place is clean. The sandwiches have lots of meat and are just ok. Skip the coffee. For $11 this sandwich is overpriced. 2.5 Stars on the food.

My Wife and I always enjoy ourselves at Players, the Food is Delicious, the Staff and Servers are Excellent, the Beer is Cold and Entertaining is Great. Highly Recommend.
