Smokin Jarhead - Woodstock

This is how BBQ is done in Woodstock, VA!! Now I know there is a culinary battle over the best BBQ and where it comes from. I will say this; Smokin' Jarhead BBQ is the best in town, best in the county, and best in the valley. I went in to try the wings wing nut) and was gambling on ribs being available. Ribs keep the missus happy. I saw from previous review pictures that ribs have to be preordered. Long story short, I got the last rack of ribs and some wings to go. The ribs were exactly as I like them; meaty, not quite fall off the bone with just a little crispiness, and full of smoke flavor. Chicken wings were meaty, full of smoke, and juicy. Personally, I prefer my wings a little crispy, but these were definitely worth going back for. Give it a try, you'll be back.

This place definitely qualifies as a dive but man the BBQ is delicious. I had the brisket platter....it was a little on the cold side, but the perfect amount of smokiness. It was also just the right tenderness to where it has a bite but not falling apart. The owner was very friendly and I 'd definitely recommend stopping by if you 're in the area.

Delicious food. Call ahead with your order for ease of pickup. The owner is so nice . Large parking area. Easy to enter and exit. Highly recommended

I had the brisket! Some of the best I have ever had!excellent service and good conversation!

We were in town and wanted something local to eat and are BBQ fans. The store front is very very basic. We had the chicken, brisket and pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and beans. Ate at a local park. There are a couple of tables outside but really this is more of a take out place. I'd say the chicken was the least favorite. I would recommend it but it is not the best barbeque we ever had. Definitely give it a try if you are in town.
