I recommend everyone to eat at the venues (little nnq on gouger street) are just incredible. Always packed and can be loud, so get into this Vietnamese restaurant and eat one of each!. You shouldn 't be disappointed. Haven 't had to re edit my posts before till now. I had walked up to a touch screen that had said loyalty card I have gone up to the station, pressed to think that this would be a good idea as I come back regularly. But encountered after I had posted my review, one of the male staff approached me in an aggressive manner. In his words WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU DOING!. came up speed walking, the facial expression on his face would be enough to make a minor upset. At no point should an employer or employee speak in such tone to a customer. The meaning for this edit Is that, I hope the NNQ owner on Woodville RD can re-inform it 's employees. That under no circumstances, should anyone raise there voice at a customer. I hope this can be resolved, by putting a sign up saying. Do not touch unless you are an employee Hope to see improvement, but won 't be back for a good few months. Hope to come back and review changes to this staff machine Tip. Don 't display loyalty card if there are no loyalty cards at this venue. Confusion may occur to customer.
I've been a regular at this place for a few years, since it first opened at Ferryden Park and then moved to Woodville. Since the move to Woodville, they have up the place to be more trendy and cafe like, and their signatures are on the bowls. It has better parking facilities then the old place as it is across from the train station and the place is more equipped to fit more customers in and disability friendly car parking. So you can either drive here or train it in from the city. The staff are friendly and efficient and were greeted at the door immediately as we stepped in and we got seated without no hassles or bookings. The place use to be a pub but now decorated with Vietnamese decorations of rickshaws, plants and feng shui items but still looks cafe, casual setting but trendy. The meals here range from entrees of $12+, mains are $13+ and they do shared meals of grill it yourself $50 for 2 people, to $80 for 4 people. They have quite an extensive range of meals, from rice combos, vermicelli salads/soups, noodles soups/fried, vegetarian dishes and pho noodle soups. You won't be disappointed here. Meals can be shared here, as the servings are big or to taste different types of meals. I ordered the: Combination Vermicelli Salad (Bun Thap Cam): Sugar cane prawn, bbq pork, spring roll, preserved pork loaf, salads served on cold vermicelli noodles with side of fish sauce. This was delicious, the noodles were steamed instead of being boiled, so the texture was flavoursome as it absorbed the spring onions and meats instead of being watery. I really enjoyed the sugar cane prawn and the spring roll. Thumbs Up! Combination Rice Noodle Hu tieu Thap Cam (dry version): There is the soup or dry version. I chose the dry as I wanted the flavours of the sauces and meats to be mixed with the noodles as sometimes the soup can make the flavours disappear. With the dry version, it comes with a side of soup. It is pork flavoured soup and the meats are cooked sliced pork, cooked prawns, sautéed ground pork, squid rings, fried garlic and caramelized shallot. It is covered with chives, oil and garlic for the extra taste and garnished with lettuce, cashew nuts and coriander. Thumbs Up! Hint 1: Ensure you mention to the staff if you want small or large serving, otherwise you will automatically be served/billed a large serving which is very filling. I had to get take away. Hint 2: You will be charged for anything extras here, for example hosin sauce for $2.00, take away containers are $0.50. Overall, Thumbs up and I will be returning very soon to this place.
Tonight was the first time I had visited NNQ since they had moved from their Ferryden Park location to Woodville Rd. I was very impressed with the quick service. For a Wednesday night, the restaurant was very busy and we arrived to what seemed like a lengthy line. However, we waited no more than 5 minutes before being seated. Upon ordering, our food came out after very little waiting too. I ordered the beef stew noodle soup which is one of my faves when frequenting Vietnamese restaurants, whilst my partner ordered the combination need noodle pho. We also ordered entrees of cold rolls and spring rolls. The cold rolls were quite plan, with an overwhelming serving of lettuce and strip of pork and served with a standard peanut dipping sauce. Not the best I have had. The spring rolls were lightly deep fried and although different, were surprisingly delicious; served with a sweet chilli sauce. The beef stew noodle soup Waa very good. A decent big serving of tasty broth with very large chunks of tender beef. Thin egg noodles and big pieces of carrot all staples to this traditional dish. For me, this is personally a safer dish to order. As I am very picky with pho and like the broth served at one particular restaurant, I tend to order this dish when I am elsewhere. It's always a winner and the beef quality is usually much better than the rubbery beef usually present in pho dishes. With saying that,my partner had no complaints in the pho although his favourite still remains elsewhere. Service was very friendly and prompt. And dishes were cleared away throughout our sitting. The restaurant itself was a good size, with plenty of seating available and a lovely decor. We were too full to try the dessert, but will definitely be returning to sample the rest of the extensive menu.
It used to be a good place to eat and it developed a good reputation because it was generous servings of food for a decent price. In the past year prices have gone up about 20% and the food has become markedly bland, with each visit more disappointing than the last. Food comes out quick and servings are still large but it was a chore to finish my meal here tonight. It was one of my favourite places to eat a few years ago but I don't think I'll go back again.
Got seated at our table. As they are pretty busy had to wait a good 30 minutes untill I decided to get up and ask if we can get a waiter to come help us order drinks. Then another guy came around and took our food order. Food came taste great. Taste fresh. Big serveings very happy with the food. It's always good when a restrant is busy then you know it's good food we will be back.
