Starting with a superb artisanal broth paired with a rich butter plate atop a pristine salad of the freshest field greens and a delightful house-made citrus dressing sets the tone. During our latest visit, the soup was so exquisite it could impress even the best Michelin-starred chefs—smooth as velvet and perfectly accented with just the right amount of white truffle oil. For our entrees, we indulged in divine leek, asparagus, and mushroom crepes, as well as grilled pork tenderloin with a savory port and cherry sauce. For dessert, we savored Bavarian cream and rhubarb custard—pure joy on a plate! Complementing the meal is an unusual and extensive wine list, featuring an excellent white Barolo. The bistro is located in a charmingly restored 100-year-old building just south of the square in Wooster. If we have any complaints, it would be the rush of cold air that sweeps in every time the door opens during winter, but that’s a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. Chef Mike’s talented partner, Emily, owns the pottery studio next door, showcasing her beautiful works in a gallery format. Due to the bistro's limited space and the busy schedule of the Ohio Light Opera during the summer, as well as various events at the College of Wooster, reservations are highly recommended.
