The food was excellent and everyone in the group enjoyed their meals. Our server, Gareth (also known as Gaz), was extremely helpful and polite. He is definitely a valuable asset to Oscars.
Father’s Day treat, fantastic food , great price , great service , couldn’t fault anything , will. be going back soon .
Was a bit worried about booking Oscars cos of previous reviews. However the hotel offered an up-grade of £25 per head for a 2course dinner we decided to opt for it on the 2nd June! Totally glad we did also we were informed by staff that it was for 3courses. For our starters we had mixed olives (nicest olives I’ve ever eaten) sourdough flatbread with a cream cheese garlic an humous dip. For our main we opted for the pork loin with greens, duchess potatoes a cranberry apple jus with pearl onions. Oh my again gorgeous. For our desert hubby opted for ice-cream with a cold espresso coffee to pour over I had the mixed ice-cream granita bowl. Again excellent. Honestly didn’t think we’d finish it all (usually only have a main). Our wine was a ‘zilla’ £19 for bottle never heard of it b4 but was very quaffable. So total we paid out on 2nd was for the wine as had pre-booked paid for meal. Wish we’d also taken up the offer for breakfast deal via the hotel but I thought it was included in price when made booking through Booking.com
Mother’s Day lunch for three Mums with two children. The food was excellent with great food for the children too! A rare occasion for me, but I sent drinks to the kitchen staff! The service at the table was attentive, friendly and efficient by the two waitresses, Diane and Charlotte, who were also excellent with the children, even entertaining them with balloons!
I made a reservation for lunch yesterday and was excited for a tasty meal. However, I was very disappointed with the food. The vegetables consisted of half a roasted carrot, three small roasted parsnips, and four small roast potatoes that were overcooked and had a strange taste. The turkey slices were tough and difficult to eat, and the beef was also tough. The Yorkshire pudding was served on a cold plate halfway through the meal. Overall, the food was cool and not very appetizing. We were offered more vegetables, but it was already too late. We ended up going home and making sandwiches because we were still hungry. The staff were apologetic, but the quality of the food did not meet our expectations. We will not be returning to this restaurant. There are other local pubs that offer better quality meals for a similar price.
