The menu offers a good selection and the staff is friendly. Our only complaint is that on a Saturday night, they did not have any bottles of wine available, which was a bit strange for a pub.
The pub is in a poor state, with outdated decor and under amateur management. Despite its great location, the overall experience is lacking. The smell upon entering, dirty carpets, and limited wine selection speaks volumes. The menu is reminiscent of the 1980s, and the cleanliness of the kitchen leaves much to be desired. The exterior benches are in need of maintenance, with some even being dangerous to sit on. Owners seem unwilling to invest in improvements. If you're satisfied with mediocre food and good beers, this place may suffice. However, if you have higher standards, it's best to give this pub a miss.
We stopped at this pub on the last day of our week-long canal trip. It is a straightforward and honest establishment. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and the quality of the pub food is good.
