Mellow Mushroom - Wrightsville Beach

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and informative. My vegan pizza was delicious, especially the unique flavor of the sauce. I appreciate that they offer tempeh as an option.

It was so enjoyable to be able to eat vegan pizza at the beach! The food was tasty.

I had always heard great things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the crust of the pizza. Typically, vegan pizzas have thin and crispy crusts that require a knife and fork to eat. However, the crust at this restaurant was thick and soft, allowing me to use my hands to enjoy my meal like I haven't been able to do in a long time.

I love Mellow Mushrooms! This is the fourth location I've eaten at in North and South Carolina. Always a few good local beers, as well as plenty of veg and vegan options. Any place that lets me put grilled tempeh on my pizza with Daiya cheese is a winner in my book.

They marinate and pan fry the tempeh before putting it on a sandwich or pizza, and it's crazy good. I'm a creature of habit my favorite pizza at Mellow Mushroom: no cheese or butter; light vegan cheese (they use Daiya mozzarella); tempeh; pineapple; onions; and Kalamata olives. DELISH. They also have several vegan sandwich options, including a tempeh hoagie, and the hummus is pretty tasty.
